An Extra
Curriculum
School
Program
The Hellenic Heritage Institute has developed a program for school
children, targeted toward the students who study Greece,
as part of their Social Science Curriculum. (Usually sixth graders).
We have had several schools visit our Museum last year and we enjoyed
the visit of small and large classes, ranging from 35 to 300 students
and several teachers and chaperones. The larger classes are spread in
more than one day and the children participate in 4 different
activities, including:

Travelogue (Introduction)
-
Greek History and Language
-
Olympics Games and Greek Folk Dancing
-
Cooking
-
Crocheting/Other form of Greek art
The students seem to enjoy this field trip very much and their
interactive involvement in all the activities provide them with a
lasting impression on the Greek Culture.
The cost per individual (students and adults) is $10. This covers all
the handout materials, refreshments and the ingredients for the food
they prepare and consume.
The duration of the program is 2 1/2 hours.
Although the program is designed for students who study Greek History,
mostly 6th grade, we have the flexibility to adjust the
program for other grade levels.
The Hellenic Heritage Museum is the next best to visiting Greece
and a field trip to the History Park with so much else to see and learn
is a very special outing.
