ATHAN KARRAS

ATHAN KARAS

Eulogy by: His son George Karas

Tommy. Thanasi. Athanasios. Throughout his wonderful life, my father had many names. Though they all referred to the same man. A man who used all of his given gifts for the benefit of others. Between his talents, time, and possessions—there was nothing that my father wouldn’t share with his friends and family.

Not only did he strongly believe in not letting anything go to waste, but his life was a daily example of how to transform all that is available, into a beautiful expression for others.

With his feet, Athan blazed his own unique and spirited path through many decades. He used them to guide his soul to his passions.

With his strong legs, he danced. He gave joy to so many through both his performances, and his teachings.

With his hands he cooked amazing meals for his family, and anyone that would walk through our door. It was impossible to move quickly through our home, as delicious food was always ready to be placed on the table before you.

With his mouth, he filled the world with his voice, which lives eternal as he mentored so many who sought their own path towards their passions.

With his eyes, he allowed the world before him to enter his mind, as he questioned what he saw in order to make it better for his community. “No such thing as a stupid question,” my father always said.

With his heart, he let compassion flow through him, as he readily sacrificed himself for others in need. When it came to helping another, to be inconvenienced was inconceivable.

And from his soul, he let his spirit soar, which not only made him a joy to be around, but inspired so many on how to live beautifully. Live with energy. With compassion. To live selflessly. My father. Athan Karas.
